Meet Daniel Freedman

Daniel Freedman is a native of New London, Connecticut. He studied Communications at Boston University and has built a versatile career as a poet, composer, musical writer, and licensed gemstone appraiser, working across poetry, theater, and screenwriting.

He has written two musicals, Pearl and the Pumpkin and Toby the Incredible Learned Pig, performed in New York City, at the Dramatists Guild on Broadway, and at Red Rocks Theater near Denver, Colorado. Toby was a finalist in the Wonderland One Act Festival and enjoyed numerous paid performances. He has also written a screenplay on Hawaii’s history and remains an active ASCAP member.

Daniel’s poetry combines humor, lyricism, and surreal imagery, exploring the absurdities of everyday life while remaining deeply human and intimate. His collection Midbar Negev Nights, inspired by his experiences in Israel that showcases his expressive storytelling and emotional depth. His poems have appeared in Fell Swoop, The Backroom Poets, and the forthcoming Chopper.

Daniel Freedman’s work opens worlds that are playful, thought-provoking, and heartfelt. He depicts chaotic classrooms, explores the promises of a lottery, and reflects on life abroad.
